Tegucigalpa - The death toll rose in Central America yesterday as Honduras and nearby countries braced for more heavy rains and flooding from Mitch, which became a tropical storm after a deadly rampage as a hurricane.
Mitch's rampage caused at least 80 deaths with many more missing: 28 killed in Honduras, 42 in Nicaragua, seven in Costa Rica, two in Guatemala, one in Panama, and one US national presumed drowned off the coast of Mexico. Another 31 people, on board a schooner run by a Miami-based cruise company which went missing on Thursday after vanishing earlier in winds and high seas, were still unaccounted for.
