A Garda investigation is underway into the death of a teenager in a Dublin hospital last night hours after he was arrested.
The 19-year-old man, who has not yet been named, was arrested yesterday in the Dolphin's Barn area of the city in connection with public order offences.
He was taken to Kilmainham Garda Station for questioning and subsequently to St James's Hospital where he later died.
The deceased did not have had any fatal physical injuries and gardai are awaiting the results of a toxicology report to establish the cause of death.
The assistant State pathologist, Dr Maire Cassidy is to carry out a post mortem later today.
Asst Commissioner Tony Hickey has appointed a Detective Superintendent to investigate the circumstances of the death.
