The death has taken place in England of Judith Ann Roberts, who was the first agriculture correspondent of The Irish Times. She was 69 years old.
Judith, nΘe D'Arcy, was the daughter of Joe D'Arcy, who worked in the Department of Agriculture and passed on his love of farming to his daughter. In 1954 she was appointed to the staff as full time agriculture correspondent by the then editor, RM Bertie Smyllie.
She was only 22 years old. She is survived by her husband, Christopher Roberts, three sons, and two sisters.
She will be buried on Thursday next, Thursday 25th October, near Hull.
