The free Eurocultured Festival, celebrating the diversity of European culture, takes place in Smithfield Plaza, Dublin, today, from midday to 9pm. This is the third time Dublin has hosted the festival. Recent events in Manchester and Bratislava attracted more than 20,000 people. This year, the day’s programme was put together by Manchester event organiser Spearfish.
MUSIC
The music strand is headed by Cathy Davey (main stage, 8pm), and features a live performance from British DJ and musician Jon Kennedy (main stage, 7pm), as well as bands from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Poland, Hungary and Portugal.
There will also be live music in the Thomas Read bar in Smithfield from 2pm.
ART
Visual artists from Ireland and abroad will paint on installations in Smithfield. In the Digital Suite, Manchester-based digital artist Sumit Sarkar will showcase his work.
CABARET
David Hoyle, formerly known as Divine David, hosts Club Brenda, a mix of music, performance art, comedy and cabaret. The event is for over-18s only and is limited to 300. To book, e-mailalix@spearfish.co.uk.
