A date has been set for the new trial of Clare county councillor Mr Enda Mulkere, concerning the alleged £400,000 Shannon Development fraud.
The trial has been fixed to start on January 27th next at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. The jury was discharged by Judge Kieran O'Connor last Monday on the fourth (lay of the first trial after jurors were seen by defence solicitor, Mr James Nash, to consult a legal textbook before that day's hearing was due to begin.
Mr Mulkere (46), of Carrownacloughy, Crusheen, Co Clare, has pleaded not guilty to a total of 17 charges of committing the fraud by false pretences on dates from October 1991 to June 1992 while he was an executive at SFADCo.
