An action by former Taoiseach Mr Charles Haughey and members of his family to prevent the Moriarty Tribunal investigating their financial affairs is ready to proceed on March 24th next, the High Court was told yesterday.
The case had been set to start on that date some weeks ago. But it was put in for mention yesterday to ensure that Mr Haughey would be fit to give evidence.
The hearing had been adjourned earlier this month because of Mr Haughey's medical condition. He suffered a broken leg when he fell from his horse at Portmarnock Strand. Mr Colm Condon SC, for Mr Haughey, told Mr Justice Geoghegan yesterday that the case would be ready to start as planned on March 24th.
