Dublin star Paul Curran has confirmed his expected inter-county retirement and revealed last night’s decision by the Dublin county board to sack manager Tom Carr "didn’t help".
"I had made a decision at the start of the year and it was always in the back of my mind," the Thomas Davis clubman told

"I thought about it strongly after the Kerry game two months ago . . . but last night’s decision definitely didn’t help matters".
Tom Carr's reign as Dublin manager came to an abrupt end last night when the county board decided not to offer him another term in charge of the senior team.
Carr received vigorous support from his players in the run-up to last night’s meeting, but Curran was quick to quash suggestions of a player revolt following the manager’s sacking.
"I wouldn’t expect a walkout, I couldn’t see anything like that happening. I don’t think there will be many changes to the team come next summer but you never know, some of the lads could retire".
Former Dublin legend Brian Mullins has expressed an interest in the vacant manager's position, and Dr Pat O’Neill, who guided Dublin to their last All-Ireland victory in 1995, is another who has been linked with the job.
