The Galway hurling selectors are reported to have dropped long-term goalkeeper Michael Cummins from the county squad.
Cummins, a member of the Galway senior team for the past three seasons, was omitted from the 35-strong squad when the Tribesmen met for pre-season training last week.
Liam Donoghue, a member of the county panel last year, looks set to claim the goalkeeper jersey for himself with Peter Cummins, custodian with Gort, being drafted into the squad as cover.
Galway start their National League Division 1A campaign on February 24th with a match against Dublin.
