The death has occurred in St Paul, Minnesota, of Jeannette McKiernan (80), co founder with her husband, Dr Eoin McKiernan, of the Irish American Cultural Institute in 1962. She had Alzheimer's disease. Ireland's Ambassador to the US, Mr Dermot Gallagher, attended the funeral at Resurrection cemetery in St Paul.
Mrs McKiernan is survived by her husband, three sons Kevin, Brendan, Fergus, six daughters Deirdre, Nuala, Gillisa, Liadan, Ethna and Grainne, 32 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
