Woman arrested after serious assault in Limerick city

Gardaí have arrested a woman after a serious assault in Limerick in the early hours of this morning in which another woman was hospitalised.

The incident happened around 3.30am on Parnell Street.

The injured woman was taken to University Hospital Limerick with numerous head injuries.

The area has been sealed off for a technical examination.

The arrested woman is being held at Roxboro Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.

She can be held for a maximum of 24 hours.
