A man has died and another has been injured after a stabbing at a house in Ennis, Co Clare.
The fatally injured man, a 31-year-old Polish national who had been staying recently at a homeless hostel, died in an ambulance on route to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital in Limerick.
The second man (39) was later found near the scene of the initial incident. He was also taken to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital and his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
The stabbing occurred at a house in Sandfield Mews, Ennis, at approximately 1am after a row broke out at a party .
Three men, two of whom are brothers, have been arrested and are currently detained at Ennis and Shannon Garda stations under Section 4 Criminal Justice Act.
The scene has been preserved for a Garda technical examination and the services of the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau have been requested.
