The 17th Burren Law School, directed by Kieran McGrath, takes place from Friday, April 30th, until Sunday, May 2nd, on accountability for the misuse of political and economic power, contrasting this with the rule of law in medieval Ireland.

It will be opened by Alan Dukes, chairman of Anglo Irish Bank, and speakers include Prof Brian Lucy of Trinity College Dublin, broadcaster and author Matt Cooper, DPP James Hamilton and Juan Carrau Mellado, a Spanish anti-corruption prosecutor. Pat Rabbitte TD and Frank Callanan SC will also be participating while Prof Donnchadh Ó Corráin (UCC) and Prof Máirín Ní Dhonnchadha (NUI Galway) will be giving the early and medieval Irish perspective.
