Judge in residence for law journal
Mr Justice Michael Peart has agreed to serve as the Hibernian Law Journal'sfirst judge in residence.
The appointment will run for two years (2012-2013). Mr Justice Peart wrote the foreword to the 2007 edition of the journal and more recently spoke at the journal’s annual lecture, in 2011.

Competition law forum
The Irish Society for European Law’s next competition law forum is on Tuesday, February 21st, at 6.30pm in the Distillery Building, 145-151 Church Street, Dublin.
The forum will discuss developments in the EU and Ireland. Speakers include Prof Richard Whish of the school of law at King’s College, London.

Constitutional law conference
The UCD Constitutional Law Studies Group is holding a conference on various constitutional law topics on Thursday, February 16th, from 2.30 to 5.30pm in Buswell’s Hotel, Molesworth Street, Dublin.
Speakers are Eoin Carolan BL, Geoffrey Shannon, Ailbhe O’Neill BL, Rossa Fanning BL and Garrett Simons SC.

Adjudication Society event
The Adjudication Society will host a half-day conference entitled Preparing for Change – The Construction Contracts Bill and a New Cashflow Culture on Thursday, February 23rd, at the Aviva Stadium.

Seminar on public interest litigation
A Public Interest Law Alliance practitioner seminar on the role of non-governmental organisations in public interest litigation takes place this Thursday, February 9th, from 4-5.45pm at the Arbitration Centre, Distillery Building, 145-151 Church Street, Dublin.
Speakers are Caoilfhionn Gallagher, barrister at Doughty Street Chambers, London; Liam Herrick, executive director of the Irish Penal Reform Trust, and TJ McIntyre, lecturer in law at University College Dublin. The seminar will be chaired by Dr Colin Harvey, professor of human rights law and head of the Law School at Queen’s University Belfast.
