International seminar on right to fair trial
An international seminar on the right to a fair trial, organised by the Irish Centre for European Law (ICEL), Trinity College, will take place on Friday, February 18th, in St Michan's Church, Church St, Dublin 7, at 5pm.
Entitled "The Right to a Fair Trial: Perspectives on Article 6 of the European Convention of Human Rights", the seminar will hear contributions from Mr Justice Nicholas Blake QC, president of the Upper Tribunal Immigration and Asylum Chamber, and judge of the High Court in London; Mr Justice Egbert Myjer, judge of the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg; and Ms Gareth Peirce, senior partner at Birnberg Peirce and Partners.
The seminar will be chaired by High Court judge Mr Justice John Hedigan, who was a judge of the European Court of Human Rights from 1998 to 2007.

30th anniversary of justice group
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the foundation of the Belfast-based human rights organisation, the Committee on the Administration of Justice. The committee has just announced that all of its publications from the 1980s can be downloaded free of charge from its website.
There will be a number of events during the year to celebrate the anniversary. The committee is seeking members. Those interested can join at caj.org.uk.
Conference on sex trafficking
An international conference on trafficking and prostitution will take place today from 9am in Wood Quay Venue, Civic Offices, Dublin 8.
The conference will highlight tried and tested solutions from other EU member states that have produced marked improvements in services for victims of sex trafficking.
In particular, the conference will examine how a prohibition on the purchase of sex, such as that operating in Sweden, can significantly reduce sex trafficking and prostitution.
The conference is being organised by the Dignity Project, a two-year EU funded initiative that has been led by Dublin Employment Pact and the Immigrant Council of Ireland.
NIHRC seeks director
