BRIEFS:The Law Reform Commission's preparation of a Fourth Programme of Law Reform is the subject of its annual conference tomorrow at the Radisson Blu, Golden Lane, D2.
The conference will discuss law reform in the current economic crisis and address the commission's role in the reform of criminal and civil law. Mr Justice Donal O'Donnell of the Supreme Court and former commissioner will deliver the keynote address. NUI appointment
Well-known UN human rights expert, Prof Michael O’Flaherty FRSA, has been appointed professor of human rights law at NUI Galway. He will also serve as director of the university’s Irish Centre for Human Rights. Prof O’Flaherty will combine the roles with his work as chief commissioner of the North’s Human Rights Commission.
Barry Sullivan for TCD research post
Prof Barry Sullivan has accepted the Arthur Cox Visiting Research Fellowship in Trinity Law School for 2012-13. Prof Sullivan, who currently holds a chair in Loyola University Chicago, was formerly dean of Washington and Lee University in the US. He has considerable experience as a practitioner. He intends to come to Trinity for Hilary term 2013. Arthur Cox is also supporting six postgraduate research studentships in the School of Law and one in the School of Business.

Film on rights in Iran
Among the Irish Bahá’í community events to mark 2012 Human Rights Week today, Reza Allamehzadeh will attend a showing of his documentary Iranian Taboo, a film investigating the social exclusion and persecution suffered by the Bahá’ís in Iran, in Trinity College at 7pm.
