The crew of a fishing ship which caught fire off the south west coast of Britain have contained the blaze and all 111 crew members are safe, the UK coastguard said today.
The Athena, a factory vessel operated by Faroe Islands-based company Thor, was heading towards Britain after being assisted by other ships, the coastguard said.
"The master has determined they are safe," Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesman Fred Caygill said.
A commercial ship rescued 98 crew members from life boats while 13 stayed on board to fight the fire after the Athena ran into trouble more than 300 miles (480 km) off the southwest coast of England, Mr Caygill said.
