A Cork man who was seriously injured when his motorcycle was struck by a car coming out from a minor road was awarded £590,000 in a settlement approved by Mr Justice Lavan in the High Court in Cork.
Frank Harrington, of Connolly Road, Ballyphehane, Cork, sued the car driver, Victor Boyhan, of Duncairn Terrace, Bray, Co Wicklow, for the injuries he received in the accident, which occurred on May 1st, 1993.
Mr Blaise O'Carroll, SC, with Dr John O'Mahony, SC, said Mr Harrington suffered a brain injury "as part of a cluster of injuries received in the accident".
The court agreed that £14,500 would be paid out of the settlement for medical expenses and £2,000 to Mr Harrington to enable him to go on holidays.
