London - A British Airways Concorde has been taken out of service after a crack developed in its wings. Despite the other six supersonic jets also having cracks in their rear wings, they have been deemed "no risk to safety" by the Civil Aviation Authority and British Airways, a BA spokeswoman said.
Initially, BA engineers discovered 60mm long cracks a few months ago in the rear wing spar - a beam that makes up part of the aircraft structure - of all seven planes. But the crack in one of the planes grew to 76mm, forcing BA to ground it for maintenance repairs.
