Fianna Fáil is predicting an exceptionally high turnout in the General Election, which they say will favour a return of the present coalition government.

Echoing last Friday’s speech by the Taoiseach Mr Bertie Ahern in Cork, the Minster for Foreign Affairs called for voters to give their second preferences to the Progressive Democrats and warned other political parties about second guessing the wishes of the electorate.

Mr Cowen also dismissed this morning's opinion poll in the Sunday Independentwhich shows FF getting 51 per cent of the vote next Friday.
