A YOUNG salesman took pictures of his girlfriend in the shower and threatened to pin them on lamp posts in a Dublin street if she did not return to him, the High Court has been told.
Mrs Justice McGuinness also heard that Mr Anurog Bhandari (24) threatened to disfigure Ms Rajni Singh, (25) by throwing acid in her face if she continued with a common assault charge against him.
Det Garda Declan O'Brien told the court that he intervened when he saw Mr Bhandari headbutting Ms Singh outside St Stephen's Green Shopping Centre. Mr Bhandari later claimed he was trying to kiss her.
Mr Bhandari, of Warren Green, Castleknock, Dublin, was in the High Court seeking bail on a District Court charge of common assault.
Det Garda O'Brien said he saw Mr Bhandari headbutt Ms Singh, of Woodford, Clondalkin, on September 19th. He later learned Mr Bhandari had phoned the woman and threatened he would kill her if she proceeded with her complaint.
"Mr Bhandari also said he had photographs of her while she was having a shower in his house and that he would copy and display them on lamp posts in South William Street where they both work," Det Garda O'Brien said.
He told Mr Nehru Pillay, counsel for the Director of Public Prosecutions, that he believed the threats to be serious.
Ms Singh said she and Mr Bhandari had lived together for five months. She said she finished their relationship because he had hit her a number of times.
After the assault, he had phoned her a number of times and watched her coming home in the evenings and in the early morning hours from his van.
"He told me he would make me so I could not look at myself left alone any other man," Ms Singh said. "He said it would be in my own best interests if I just let the matter go."
Mr Bhandari denied he had ever threatened Ms Singh or said he would throw acid on her face. He also denied threatening to post up the photographs, which had been returned to her.
Mrs Justice McGuinness granted Mr Bhandari bail of £500 with two sureties amounting to £10,000 on condition he live with an uncle in Foxrock, Dublin, stay away from Ms Singh, her home and her place of work, surrender his Indian passport and sign on three times a week at a Garda station.
