A MAN accused of robbery grabbed a garda by the throat in a courtroom and said he'd be sorry if he objected to bail, a court heard yesterday.
Before Dublin District Court was Mr Thomas Smith (30), of Bunratty Road, Coolock, Dublin, who is charged with robbery on a 27A bus on Bunratty Road on April 14th.
Garda Brendan Ruigrok, of Coolock, told the court Mr Smith subsequently failed to appear in court and was arrested on foot of a bench warrant on September 23rd last. He was objecting to bail for Mr Smith because, following his arrest, the accused had grabbed him by the throat and said he would be "sorry" if he ever objected to the accused getting bail. He told the garda he knew where some of his relations lived.
Bail was denied and Mr Smith sent forward for trial to the Circuit Criminal Court.
