Politicians in the North have welcomed a decision in the Belfast High Court yesterday to allow the family of Peter McBride to seek a judicial review of a Ministry of Defence ruling allowing two soldiers convicted of his murder to return to army duty.
The Sinn Fein Assembly member for North Belfast, Mr Gerry Kelly, said the judgment represented "a small step forward" for the family in its fight for justice. The president of the Alliance Party, Dr Philip McGarry, said the judgment was good news. The family had every reason to be angry at the "clearly inappropriate" decision to allow Scots Guardsmen Fisher and Wright back into the army.
