The High Court has ordered the arrest of the Cypriot-registered cargo vessel, MV Merea, berthed at Dublin Port. Mr Frank Beatty, counsel for Swiss-based coal traders NW Harvey Invest SA, told Mr Justice O Caoimh that his client had hired the vessel for a single voyage with a cargo of coke from Xingang, China, to Dunkirk. He said the vessel had not been furnished on an agreed date and his client faced losses of $175,000. Mr Beatty said a dispute between Harvey Invest SA and the vessel's owners was before arbitration in the UK and his client required security for its claim in the form of the vessel.
