US Supreme Court:The US Supreme Court has temporarily blocked Boston College from handing over interviews that academic researchers recorded with a former member of the IRA.

The court yesterday stayed a lower court order that the college give the justice department sections of recorded interviews with convicted IRA car bomber Dolours Price. US federal officials want to forward the recordings to police in Northern Ireland investigating the IRA’s killing of a Belfast woman in 1972.

Price and other former IRA members were interviewed between 2001 and 2006 as part of the Belfast Project, a resource for journalists, scholars and historians studying the Troubles.

Sinn Féin leader Gerry Adams has repeatedly denied all the allegations made by Ms Price about his role in the conflict.
