An allegedly unsafe building site on Kylemore Road, Dublin, has been temporarily closed by order of the High Court.
Mr Fergal Foley, counsel for the National Authority for Occupational Safety and Health, told Mr Justice Barr that a site at the rear of Old Naas Road Cottages was being developed as a small hotel.
He said a health and safety inspector, Mr Michael Walsh, had visited the site on August 14th and ordered a squad of bricklayers off what he considered to be an unsafe scaffolding. Mr Walsh had also ordered that the use of a 220 volt appliance be discontinued. On his return to the site some hours later, he found both the scaffolding and electric appliance still in use.
Mr Justice Barr granted an interim injunction prohibiting further work on the site and ordered that notice of the prohibition be served on the defendants, Arcourt Ltd, at their registered office, The Bungalow, Old Naas Road, Dublin. He also ordered a notice of the court order to be erected on the site.
