A FORMER garda charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice and corruptly accepting a gift or bribe was further remanded when he appeared before Dublin District Court yesterday.
Mr John O'Neill, of The Rise, Kingswood Heights, Tallaght, is also charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm at Kingswood Heights on October 17th last.
Between November 1st, 1995, and October 17th last, he is accused of corruptly accepting £200 as a gift or bribe, while a garda, and conspiring with persons not yet charged to perverts the course of justice by destroying a District Court document.
The document allegedly involved was a warrant for the arrest of a Mr Michael Byrne, between June 1st and October 17th last. Mr O'Neill was remanded on continuing bail of £10,000 to January 28th next.
