A BUILDING company allegedly used money given towards the construction of a small housing development to fund two costly golf course developments with which it was also involved, the High Court was told yesterday.
Joseph and Katherine Corcoran signed up to buy one of the houses. They have brought a legal action to compel the company to honour a contract to construct a house for them at Glenair Manor, Delgany, Co Wicklow.
They claim EASSDA Ireland Ltd and its principal, Alastair Jackson, both of Antrim Road, Templepatrick, Co Down, failed to complete the house within a 24-month period.
The defendants dispute the claims.
John Rogers SC, for the couple, told the court yesterday, that EASSDA's agent, Willow Court Homes, the firm carrying out the work, was not being directly funded by EASSDA.
It emerged that EASSDA-related companies, Moyvalley and New Forest, were actually involved in two "significant and costly golf courses in the midlands," Mr Rogers said.
The couple agreed to pay €1.35 million for the building work.
The case continues before Ms Justice Mary Laffoy.
