A man and his wife were charged at a special court in Lurgan RUC station on Saturday accused with withholding information following a murder.

They are Mr Ronald Wesley Allen (45), unemployed, and Ms Jill Allen (40) insurance clerk, both with an address at West Street, Portadown.

The charge alleges that without reasonable excuse they failed to give information to a constable about the murder of Adrian Francis Lamph at the Fairgreen, Portadown, on April 21st, 1998. Evidence was given by an RUC detective inspector that when arrested, charged and cautioned, each defendant replied: "Definitely not guilty".

Both defendants were remanded in custody, Mr Allen to Lisburn Magistrates Court sitting at the Maze Prison on Wednesday, and Ms Jill Allen to Lisburn Magistrates Court on May 12th.
