Counting in the Garda vote on the Government's pay offer is to take place today at the headquarters of the Garda Representative Association, writes Jim Cusack Security Correspondent.
Some 8,000 gardai were polled about whether they intended to accept a pay offer they had twice rejected, seeking more money to introduce productivity measures including the new £55 million PULSE computer system.
According to GRA sources there was an expectation a majority would be in favour of accepting the pay deal in the latest ballot.
If the GRA accepts the deal, members will be entitled to 18 months of back-dated pay increases under the Partnership 2000 deal. This would gave officers as much as £1,500 extra in their pre-Christmas pay packets.
