A Green Party councillor has accused Dublin Corporation of "acting with the sensitivity of a bull" over the threatened demolition of a listed Georgian house in Parnell Square, on foot of a dangerous buildings notice.
Mr Ciaran Cuffe, chairman of the City Council's conservation committee, said the city manager and his senior officials were failing to use their powers under existing legislation to ensure that listed buildings were maintained.
"The corporation should at least require the shoring up of buildings in the wording of a dangerous buildings notice so that repairs can be carried out at a later date. The days of knocking down Georgian buildings should be a thing of the past".
