The Fianna Fail leader on Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has condemned a recent letter to The Irish Times which criticised the quality of water in the south of Dublin Bay.
Speaking at a council meeting last night Councillor Betty Coffey said the letter ignored recent improvements in water quality. These had resulted from a new sewerage scheme, water mains and improved facilities for swimmers.
"This council has spent more money on the quality of water than any other, she said. "That letter was not based on facts."
