FINGAL County Council last night voted in favour of proposals for 12 traveller halting sites in the council's six electoral areas to accommodate 120 families.
The council voted to change the locations of to 10 bay halting sites in the Howth electoral area and one in Balbriggan.
Proposals for eight halting sites in Castleknock, Malahide, Mulhuddart and Swords were supported without any amendments.
In the Howth area, councillors supported a motion to locate one planned halting site near Howth Castle instead of the Summit and the other at Windgate Road instead of Thormanby Lawns.
The motion, proposed by Green Party councillor, Mr David Healy, was passed by 14 votes to six with two abstentions.
In Balbriggan, councillors voted unanimously to shift one proposed halting site from Turvey Avenue to Batter Lane. A proposal by Green Party councillor, Ms Thea Allan, to move the other proposed 10 bay site from Mall Lane to the Bog of the Ring was narrowly defeated.
In Castleknock, councillors voted in favour of 10 group houses planned for the Navan Road and a 10 bay halting site for Dunsink Lane.
They also supported proposals for two 10 bay halting sites in Clonshaugh and Broomfield in the Malahide electoral area.
In the Mulhuddart area, proposals for eight group houses at St Bernadette's Park and a 12 bay halting site at Cruiserath were passed.
In the Swords area, councillors voted in favour of proposals for a 10 bay site on St Margaret's Road and six group houses and a four bay site on Forest Road.
