The President, Mrs McAleese, will deliver a special millennium address to a joint sitting of the Houses of the Oireachtas on December 16th, their last sitting day this century, writes Miriam Donohoe.
The Council of State yesterday gave the go-ahead for the address at its first meeting since President McAleese was elected to office in November, 1997. The council met for more than 1 1/2 hours at Aras an Uachtarain and the content of the address was discussed.
