Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council has warned that it is about to step up its action against householders who have not paid water charges, including disconnecting households. Two disconnections took place last week following court orders. The council has started a process of issuing warning notices. They are followed by a court hearing. Final warnings are sent by a debt-collecting agency, with a warning that defaulters will have the debt registered against them in the High Court and their names published in Stubbs Gazette.
Those disconnected will have to pay £300 in legal costs and expenses as well as the outstanding charge.
