1 Attitude towards conference and general co-operation - 8/10
Social side of conference much appreciated. Enthusiasm for banquet proved distraction from weightier matters. Positive reaction to union president's speech.
2 Care of clothing and general standard of dress - 7/10
An abundance of floral scarves over two-piece suits with matching shoes seemed de rigueur among the girls. Hiking boots were popular among the more casually dressed younger boys, perhaps hoping for some hill-walking - we are in Killarney after all.
3 Effort and attendance to what platform speakers were saying - 5/10
Open sessions started promisingly, well attended and concentration was good. However some backsliding later as crosswords were produced. Room for improvement.
4 Participation in extra curricular activities - 5/10
A 10-minute break was in reality a 45-minute break as many students found the bar and cream-bun stand more attractive than the conference. Disappointing lack of enthusiasm for field trips!
5 Hunk count - 0/10
Not unpleasant to look at, but not in Leonardo di Caprio mould. School principals of Ireland need have no fear of awkward teenage crushes.
6 General observations
Money emerged as central issue with threats of strike if demands are not met. The group seems resentful of boys and girls in Garda High School and Colaiste Nursing who got a mega rise in their pocket money from that nice Mr O'Donoghue and Mr Cowen. Would also like to see more of the younger group attending and more student issues discussed.
