A vessel involved in Shell’s Corrib gas project was towed to safety today after going onto the rocks.
The 'Flamingo' supply boat was grounded on rocks off Erris Head in Co Mayo at around 5am this morning.
Crew onboard sent out a distress signal to the coastguard and the 32m vessel was brought in to shelter in Broadhaven Bay.
Five people on the boat were taken ashore and were said to be safe and well.
A Shell spokesman said weather conditions were to blame for the incident.
"An investigation is under way and fuel has been transferred off the boat as a precautionary measure," he added.
