A court heard yesterday how a boy spent more than three months in hospital with severe burns after falling into a bonfire set by Limerick residents who needed to dispose of rubbish.
Paul McNamara was six at the time of the accident, which occurred near his home in O'Malley Park.
The High Court heard that Limerick Corporation was being sued because, it was claimed, the corporation had failed to carry out bin collections in the area.
Mr Justice Vivian Lavin recommended acceptance of an offer of Pounds 7,500 from the corporation, which denied liability in the case.

The boy's parents accepted the offer on his behalf, without prejudice to the corporation.
