Limerick Corporation yesterday put forward proposals to end the unofficial dispute which has stopped refuse service, street-cleaning and municipal house maintenance for five days.
A statement from the office of the city manager said that if the 200 workers resumed duty on Monday morning an investigation would begin immediately into the allegations of serious misconduct involving a craft worker.
The dispute arose when he was suspended with pay last Friday week. The rest of the workers walked out in sympathy. But the corporation insists that a meeting to discuss the dispute must be arranged through union officials.
