One of Cork's best-known butcher's shops, O'Donovan's on Princes Street, which first opened its doors in 1900, is set to close later this month, with the loss of 28 jobs.

Hannah O'Donovan founded the family-run business 105 years ago in the city centre near the English Market. O'Donovan's is still a family-run business and is now in its third generation.

The shop will close its doors for the last time on June 28th. The closure has been attributed to a downturn in trading in Cork city centre.

O'Donovan's shop in the Wilton shopping centre on the south side of Cork will remain open.
