Services on the Luas red line are not expected to return to normal until next Monday because of the affects of a fire in buildings close to the route in Dublin city centre at the weekend.

Dublin City Council confirmed today that the buildings are unstable and it is now not possible to secure the buildings as they had planned.

As a result, trams are only operating between Tallaght and Heuston Station today and tomorrow. There is no service from Heuston to the city centre.

Frequency on the line has also changed. Trams are operating every seven to ten minutes during peak times and 15 to 20 minutes off peak.

The green line Luas is operating as normal.

Passengers are being advised to allow extra time for travel.

Luas tickets are valid on Dublin Bus. The number 90 and 145 routes will pick up Luas passengers from Customs House Quay and Tara Street train station for the journey to Heuston Station.

This service disruption is due to a fire on Queen Street on Saturday.

For work to continue safely on the affected buildings, the overhead power lines are turned off and a safety cordon is in place on Benburb Street.

A further update will be issued tomorrow.
