You know that feeling you get when you walk into a proper French establishment, be it an epicerie, a boulangerie or a bistro?
It puts a swagger in your tail. We like to be transported in a Midnight in Paris sort of way (watch this movie if you’re a Francophile). One such place in Dublin is Chez Max (133 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2, tel: 01-6618899). The epicerie above the restaurant has an exclusive stock of French products.
They are offering a free cup of their Cafe Ricard (roasted in Paris) coffee to the first 100 readers to visit the epicerie and quote “Chez Max September offer”.
Bush Moukarzel’s play, Souvenir, is an examination of French writer Marcel Proust’s Remembrance of Things Past. The Paris Bakery (18 Moore Street, Dublin 1, tel: 01-8044112) produces breads and pastries using ingredients mostly imported from France and baked in their five-ton French oven. Today, they are offering a free pain au chocolat and an apricot croissant with every coffee purchased, to the first 50 readers to visit and quote “Paris Bakery offer”.
