Boots Rechargeable Toothbrush

€19.49

HIGHS:
This is a very good value product, costing just a tenth of the full price of the most expensive alternative. It has a pleasing heft to it and comes with one spare brush head

LOWS:Docking station is large and unnecessarily cumbersome

VERDICT:Great value

Philips Sonicare

€69.79

HIGHS: Promises the benefit of flossing without the tedium and, if you're not satisfied for any reason after 28 days, you can get a refund. It leaves teeth with a zingy clean feeling

LOWS: We didn't like the high pitched whine – it's like a bunch of angry hornets in your mouth.

VERDICT: Too whiney

Oral B Triumph

€111.99

HIGHS
: Comes with a range of brush heads, including one for polishing and a wireless information monitor which says which teeth to clean next and for how long

LOWS: The results are excellent but at what cost? It was selling last week in Argos for half price but, at the full price of over €200, we'd want it to come with a dentist attached

VERDICT: Rolls Royce of toothbrushes

Colgate Actibrush

€12.99

HIGHS: The cheapest of the brushes, this cleans better than a regular brush but doesn't cost that much more than one. It has two round heads which are good for cleaning between teeth

LOWS: Very loud whirring noise that may be too much for gentle souls of a morning

VERDICT: Loud and cheap
