Blog on here: I just moved to New Zealand from Ireland. There is an Indian restaurant on the main strip in Wellington (it has been voted best Indian restaurant in the city) and they do a lunch special for NZD$6.90 (€2.83). That includes a main course, rice, naan bread and water. For around €3! And it was as good an Indian meal as I've ever had. It really drove home how ripped off we are at home. – Derek
I've just come back from Portugal where I was reminded, again, how badly we're all being ripped off in our shops. But the thing is that branded goods were either pretty much the same price there or slightly more expensive. Sure, booze and fresh food were notably cheaper, but branded personal care products, packaged foods, household products, CDs and DVDs were all the same price or dearer. What's more, Portuguese people have lower disposable incomes than the Irish despite everything that's going on. – Dealga
