THUMBS UP: Brewing company Adnams has developed what it claims is the UK's first carbon-neutral beer.
Adnams claims that the bitter, East Green, results in less than 1p worth of carbon emissions per bottle, which it has pledged to offset. It's made from locally grown barley, and its aphid-resistant Boadicea hops reduce the need for pesticides.
The beer is produced at an "eco-friendly" brewery in Suffolk, where steam created during brewing is recycled to heat 90 per cent of the following brew. The beer will be packaged in lightweight 500ml glass bottles.
