A construction worker in his 40s has died following an accident at a building site in Clonakilty, Co Cork.

A construction worker in his 40s has died following an accident at a building site in Clonakilty, Co Cork.

The accident happened shortly after 9 a.m. yesterday when the man was struck by the arm of a digger near the West Cork Technology Park.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and taken to Cork University Hospital where a post-mortem was carried out.

Meanwhile, the funeral has taken place of 10-year-old Andrew Deane who died when a mini-tractor fell on him in Innishannon, Co Cork on Saturday. Pupils at Bandonbridge National School formed a guard of honour at the funeral.
