A complaint made by the Taoiseach’s staff about TV3’s political editor Ursula Halligan over an incident which has become known as “flowergate” was resolved last night.
The controversy arose following a press conference last week where Mr Kenny tripped over a flower pot while being asked a question by Ms Halligan.
Afterwards, TV3 was contacted with claims that Ms Halligan was guilty of “leading a charge” on Mr Kenny that was “tantamount to assault”.
A statement released last night by the station and agreed by the Government Information Service (GIS) said: “Following a meeting between TV3 and GIS regarding a doorstep held at the national library, it has been agreed that what was understood to have been an allegation of assault was not intended as such.”
It added that both parties would continue to ensure that “open and transparent relations” were maintained.
