Commuters are today being hit with added costs as rail fares increase by an average of around 3 per cent.
The price rise was approved late last year and will see intercity train journeys jump by as much as three euro.
Dart travel will also increase and on the whole fares will go up by an average of 3.8 per cent.
The cost of travelling from Dublin to Belfast remains the same.
Commuters' groups have claimed the cost of travelling by train varies across the country from €0.11 per kilometre to as much as €0.33 a kilometre on some services.
Irish Rail customers can check the cost of fares before travelling by logging on to www.irishrail.ie, or calling 1850 366 222 or by asking at local stations.
Bus Éireann has increased fares on all of its provincial city services by five cent. Dublin Bus has increased most of its cash fares by same amount.
Fares on the Luas in Dublin will rise by 3.8 per cent from tomorrow. The increases, which will add €0.10 to most fares, do not apply to smartcards or travel passes.
