The trial of the three Irishmen accused of training FARC rebels in Colombia resumes in the capital, Bogota, on Monday.
In what is expected to be the final stage of the trial of Mr Niall Connolly, Mr Martin McCauley and Mr Jim Monaghan, the prosecution and defence will make their closing arguments.
The judge in the controversial trial is likely to deliver a verdict in September to the three men at the jail where they are detained.They were arrested in August 2001 and are also accused of travelling on false documentation. The trial, which began in October, has been adjourned seven times.
Fourteen international observers from three continents are expected to attend the trial, according to the chairwoman of the "Bring Them Home" committee, Ms Caitríona Ruane. They include Fianna Fáil Senator Mary White, who said "the joint committee on Foreign Affairs have requested me to formally report back to them on the trial".
Fianna Fáil MEP, Mr Niall Andrews, and Sinn Féin TD for Dublin South West, Mr Seán Crowe, are among the Irish representatives who also include Mr Pat Daly, a criminal law solicitor, and Mr Ronan Munro, a criminal law barrister.
An Australian MP, Mr Paul Lynch, and a number of Australian lawyers and trade unionists, are expected to attend along with US lawyers and human rights activists.
Ms Ruane, who said the three men "should have been home with their families two years ago", claimed it was a "deeply flawed case; no evidence has been presented to the court, prosecution witnesses have perjured themselves on the stand and have obviously been schooled by the Colombian military".
