ONE deputy hoping for a mild Christmas morning is FG's Michael Finucane who, for the sake of charity, will plunge into the outdoor pool in his home town of Foynes.
The member for Limerick West tried to persuade his neighbouring deputy Minister for Health Michael Noonan, to join him but, despite the fact that the pair go swimming regularly during the summer at Kilkerry Pier near Glin, he declined. The swim is in aid of St Paul's Centre for Cerebral Palsy in Limerick City and Deputy Finucane has raised sponsorship in Leinster House and among friends and colleagues nationwide. Despite admitting that his heart could stop with the fright, the only training he has undertaken for his new venture has been in a heated pool in Dublin.
