A post-mortem examination will be carried out this morning on the body of Mr Chris Chrysafidis, one of two people found dead yesterday following separate tragedies off the coasts of Donegal and Kerry.

Coastguard divers recovered the body of Mr Chrysafidis in the sea at Melmore Head, Co Donegal, just before midday.

A short time later, rescue services in Dingle, Co Kerry, recovered the body of a woman who went missing while diving with friends at Bull Head near Dingle.

Mr Chrysafidis, a 26-year-old Greek national who worked as a taxi driver in Derry, disappeared on Sunday afternoon while walking his dog at Downings, along the Co Donegal coast.

He had been on holiday in the area with his partner.

The alarm was raised when the dog returned alone to the nearby holiday home where Mr Chrysafidis had been staying with his partner.

A large scale search was launched, involving volunteers from Mulroy Coastguard and Cliff Rescue as well as the Sheephaven Diving Club.

The post-mortem examination will be carried out at Letterkenny General Hospital at 9 a.m. this morning.

Following a separate incident, the body of a 25-year-old English woman was recovered from the water at Bull Head off the coast of Dingle, Co Kerry.

The woman's body was taken to Tralee General Hospital where a post-mortem examination was carried out yesterday evening.
